What is bad about Gateway Laptops?

My dads' friend is really good with computers and said to not even get close to Gateway computers. He said to buy sony laptops. I wanna sell my sony laptop because it sucks and get a gateway laptop that i saw in a best buy flyer, it was $380 and had very good specs but he said not to get it. I dont have money for a sony laptop plus the specs on the sony ones are not as good as this gateway. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with Gateway Laptops??

Gateway is notorious for very poor design.



Asus makes the best designed computers.

Gateway has gone downhill since it was bought by Acer. The use whatever cheap parts they can find, and as a result, the laptop breaks shortly after the warranty expires. Stay away from Acer and Gateway. I trust ASUS motherboards, and I see they sell laptops now.

The support is absolutely Horrid!!!



I had an Acer travelmate (branch of Gateway)



The Build quality is terrible, the chassies squeak, battery's are garbage, hinges for the screens are terrible for the tension they are under, Keyboards miss keystrokes...



this is all i know so far, but its too many problems for me,



Try HP, Asus, Or Dell



Go to bestbuy and look at the deals they have you may find an amazing deal! ;)



Stay Away From ACER GATEWAY AND EMACHINES!!! They are all gateway products!

What people don't get is most manufactures don't make parts, they mearly pick parts and produce a case. Including gateway, there for there's nothing wrong with them. One thing you have to think about is support, how well is there support? In my opinion HPs have cooling problems, Asus make and produce there own quality parts. Dells are bulletproof. Especially

I really doubt it has good specs for $380. ASUS is a top brand and runs cheaper than Sony

Gateway is fine, just don't get HP.
