Why does my laptop keep setting itself an hour ahead?

Since the new Daylight Saving Time has kicked in my computer keeps setting itself an hour ahead. I check to make sure the time zone is correct, I sync the time (I have to sync to the windows website because it can not sync to time.nist.gov for some reason) When I sync it, it goes back to the right time. The next time I start up my laptop it's an hour ahead.

The computer doesn't know that Daylight Savings Time is 3 weeks early this year. You need to adjust the time manually, and uncheck the box that makes it do it automatically. To do that, first, open your Time and Date properties by double-clicking the clock on your computer. If you have Windows XP, open that screen, go to the Time Zone tab, and then uncheck the box that says Automatically adjust clock for daylight savings changes. Then, click Apply, then click OK. If you have Windows 98, 95, or ME, just double-click the clock, and uncheck the box that says Automatically adjust clock for daylight savings changes, then click Apply, then click OK. Now, if you have your time set to the time you want it, it won't go ahead one hour, because you just told the computer not to do the daylight savings time when it thinks is the time, but when it really is the right time. If you have a cell phone, you might of realized that it did the Daylight Savings Time on the right day. Your provider sent a signal to everyone using your provider that Daylight Savings Time is 3 weeks early, therefore, adjusting the clock without you doing anything. That's what cool about cell phones.

Because the original DST hasn't happened yet, so it thinks it's correcting itself. Go to Microsoft site and download the patch to update the DST change for your operating system.

I'm not saying this to be a smart aleck, but, have you checked to see that you've got your right time zone? I had set mine, but, then, somehow, it managed to get changed to the central time zone, so, I was off..

If not, go in and make sure that it's not set to automatically update the time on savings time..
