Hi =]

my problem is that whenever i go to open a word document off the internet, instead of the word document coming up, a window comes up instead that reads:

'File Conversion' at the top, followed by a sort of coding (e.g. %20jjgjdpgsjl%28)

then in the window itself, it reads:

'Select the encoding that makes your document readable.
Text encoding:'

...it then gives me the option of choosing 'Windows (default)' 'MS-DOS' or 'Other Encoding'(followed by a list of languages)

None of these options work, with the document just remaining as pages of codes instead!

Please please help! I need this fixed in order to do my uni work!!

Ty!

What is the format for the word document that you are trying to open?

What is your MS Word version?

Either you are trying to open a 2007 word file with 2003 word program or that file is not a word document.

If it's the 1st one you can download conversion pack at

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en

A .doc file should work on all of them, but a .docx will only work on Word 2007 or later. Save as Word 97-2003 and you should be okay.
