Find a laptop with the following for optimum performance and speed:

- Atleast 2048MB (2GB) RAM. RAM is also known as memory. Vista NEEDS 2GB of RAM to run smoothly. Anything below will make you extremely mad from the slowness....

- Intel Core 2 Duo (or Centrino Duo). If you want to save some money, get the AMD Turion X2 or Athlon X2. These are great performers but core 2 duo is a little bit better.

- [Highly recommended, but optional] Find a laptop with dedicated graphics. You should definitely get a laptop with dedicated graphics if you are going to work with photoshop, video or photo editing, gaming, or any other graphics intensive applications.

- Enough hard drive space, desirable screen size, and weight.

- Try to find laptops with instant rebates or anything on- sale. This is a big money saver.

With the specifications above, your laptop will be blazing fast, even without dedicated graphics.

I like the ones with the Centrino processor #1 reason the battery life is long. Also look for lots of RAM at least 1 gig is a must if your running VISTA. The hard drive should be 140gigs or more for your laptop to run nice and smooth. Also if you got a budget around 800$ you shall find a great DELL laptop with lots of features and add ons. Good Luck

You might try replacing your AC adapter.

If you're buying a new laptop, I would only recommend getting a getting a good video card unless you plan on playing alot of 3d games.

Processor-wise, any dual core processor is probably good enough. I would want at least 2 GB of RAM. Granted, it's easy to upgrade, but why use a computer that has less than 2 GB of RAM?

It really depends on what you're doing without it. If you're just using the Internet and writing documents, it doesn't really matter what you get.

If you plan on storing alot of data, whether it's games, movies, or whatever, you should probably get a fairly large hard drive. Otherwise, try to get one that's fast, even if it's relatively small. Don't get a flash drive; they're too expensive and are too small.

Unless you plan to watch high def movies or burn cds/dvds, you should get the cheapest DVD drive available from wherever you're buying the laptop.

don't bother getting dell unless you are going to spend a lot of money. if you're looking for a really good reliable laptop for not so much money then def. get a sony. i mean dells for the low same price of a sony are junk.. believe me i've owned them all.. the sony's are very liable.. you are going to want to look into processor speed ..amount of RAM and Hard Drive space. these are the life blood of your laptop...if your a gamer well then your going to want to get a decent graphics card. stay away from the media accelarator graphics card if your a gamer.. but if you just want a nice laptop for doing work, school, surfing the web, picture editting, music, watching video. look into the sony vaio's ...any one over 900 is well worth the money...anything below 900 they start getting real cheap and not worth the money!!! happy shopping!

Focus on on-board video, Processer speed, and screensize/ overall feel. Don't concentrate on Hard disk space and Memory because those two things can be upgraded very easily. Good luck.

look ahead to awhile in case you do no longer choose them right this moment. they are in basic terms going to get greater low-value because of the fact the technologies gets greater perfect. to boot, black friday has some stable bargains. once you're prepared to place the time in, do it.
