Staying in the ‘Performance Options’ menu, click on the ‘Visual Effects’ tab. Here you should select the radio button which says ‘Adjust for Best Performance’. This will ensure that Windows doesn’t waste any of your precious PC resources just to make the interface look ‘prettier’.

but i dont know how 2 get it up but when i right click on my wallpaper it comes up with something called graphics properties... and there it says stuff like coulour qaulity 32bit but i can chang it to 16bit but will this make my laptop run faster

also if you have any other tips wich could help that would be great

No, you can't make your computer much faster without changing the hardware. Mostly, for laptops the easiest way to do so is to buy a new computer. Don't worry, you won't need a top of the line computer. A 400$ 2012 computer will do just fine, just remember to get a graphics card if you are into gaming.

"Music production software requires a good processor and multi core processors are the best. It requires a good amount of RAM at least 2gb and 4gb is better. A good fast hard drive with 32-64mb cache is recommended.

Does your system match up to these specs?"

First, uninstall any systems that you do not use anymore. Remove all of the systems from the startup folder that you do not use daily. Then down load and run CCleaner, adding the "assess for problems" aspect of the application. Now down load and run AdAware. Also down load and run Spybot S&D. If Ad-mindful misses it, Spybot will capture it. IF you don't seem to be fearful of tweeking your laptop down load and run Process Explorer. Now run Disk Cleanup and De-fragment your tough force(each systems got here with home windows). Run those 4 systems often and defragment once or more a month. Then purchase the max reminiscence your laptop can manage. Memory makes the most important change in how your laptop runs. Still no longer completely satisfied? You could also be ready to improve the video card for your pc. Most video playing cards additionally include 'overclocking' application to accelerate the CPU and video card. Be cautious despite the fact that. Overclocking can overheat the laptop if you're too competitive.

First off, I would steer clear of most "we can speed up your computer" applications. Most of them just get you to install their "free" version, which typically claims to scan and show you whats wrong. Then you pay to fix them. The other versions may appear to be completely free, but virtually none of them will do anything more than quite possibly trash your computer.

My recommendation is to use a program (I know goes against what I said above, should have mentioned ONLY use if someone you trust recommends... and you trust me, right?!?!) Anyway, there is an app called CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) from Piriform (http://piriform.com) download that, install it, (free for personal use) and then have it check for problems.

A couple comments here, you might want to uncheck in the overall check the options for cookies and web history (unless you don't mind having to log back in and don't care about sites you've visited recently). Then you can go to the Registry tab, scan and fix all it finds, but MAKE SURE you save a backup, on the off chance it makes something break you can just restore it from the backup by double clicking the backed up file.

Finally, under the Tools tab, first use the Uninstall to remove any programs you no longer use (again, be wary of what you are removing, make certain you don't use it). And finally click the Startup button and disable any applications from startup that you don't need (you can delete them later, but if you disable and something breaks (like a camera is no longer detected when plugged in) you can re-enable it. Common ones to disable are those having to do with iTunes/Apple, Adobe, printer "tools", etc.

Hope that gets you started, make sure you are also running current anti-virus software (I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials right from the Microsoft website). I've seen quite a few computers with a significant speed increase by removing McAfee or Norton anti-virus and replacing with Microsoft. Those others seem to really put a hamper on system performance.

I'd say format your computer and you'll get most of the speed back. I do it once a year usually. Just back everything up.

But Adjusting your windows visual settings will help your computer if its an older computer. On mine adjusting it doesn't really make a difference because I have a pretty decent laptop.

should be somewhere around: control panel > System > advanced > performance depending on which OS you are using. If that doesn't help, try getting new shoes.
