So, I'm wanting to get a new laptop. I figured I would get an alienware laptop because I plan on playing Minecraft while running close to 80 mods. I will also be getting new heavy games such as the Call of Duty series and World of Warcraft. I am also planning on giving the laptop I have now to my mom. I have a Gateway NE56R41u. 4 gigabytes ram memory 500GB HDD. Intel Pentium core processor. (Will she like this laptop?) Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

First of all, don't get an alienware, or ANY "gaming" laptop for that matter. The problem is that they have serious battery and heat problems because they are trying to accomplish something better left to a desktop. If you bought a high end laptop and play taxing games like you plan on doing, it would run out of power in a couple hours, the components would get killed off by heat in a couple years ( VERY difficult to remove dust, you can't just open up the case and clean it ) and the battery wouldn't be able to hold a charge after a year due to being exposed to heat and high power draw.

Bleh...

Even a $800 desktop could outperform a $3000 gaming laptop. It's inherent, because it can draw a lot more power and cool off much better.

Why don't you build your own desktop and get a low end laptop for mobility when you need it?

She should love that laptop! The Alienware laptops are expensive, but at least most models can be upgraded down the road for future games. You will both come out ahead on this! enjoy your new Alienware!

if your mom doesnt do much with computers, then yes, but if your mom is real tech salvy (as in experienced), then probably not

as for suggestions for new laptops, depends on what mods you use and what graphics quality you want in your games, for example, i only have 20 or so mods in my MC forge, but the mods are so heavy that even my custom gaming pc can barely handle it
