the best way is when its first installed, you make sure you PARTITION the drive and leave an EXTRA partition spare for BACKUPS. Then when you have added your special extra nice programs, then you take a DISK IMAGE and put it on that spre partition. then some years later you want a nice clean system back again, you back up your files onto your spare partition any way you prefer to. then you you just SPLAT back your image of your c: drive that you saved, and suddenly your pc is new and fresh But it is now x years out of date with UPDATES, so after it gets done two days later with UPDATES you can then put back (restore from the spare partition), your backed up files. all on a ice clean healthy system again.

You could use apps like CCleaner to help. Should also pay attention to what the app recommends to delete & make sure it isn't going to delete anything you want to keep.
