Question:
How to change the function of the F keys? fn key?

I recently got a new laptop, and the F keys are assigned some random things... Rather useless things for me, light brightening my screen or pausing my music. S: If I hold down the fn key, I can get the original functions, but this is terribly inconvenient, as I am a gamer, so taking that second to hit the fn key before f2 may be the difference between life and death.
So, how do I reverse it? I want to make it so I have to hold down the fn key to get the alternate functions, and if I don't hold it, I can use the f# keys as normal.

Fn keys are usually hard-wired into the CMOS of the laptop and cannot be changed.

I suggest that you use the Windows, Ctrl, Alt, or Shift key instead.

Your HP can both have the F keys function usual F keys (on your sport case in point) as default, or as particular keys for beginning particular classes. search for for HP utilities on your computing device or on-line, to change between having the keys this manner or that. in spite of everything, frequently there is an FN key on the keyboards, to have the most important swap behaviors, attempt to apply that too if it facilitates.

You can't do it. this also annoys the heck out of me with my Dell laptop.

Well I take that back, you *could* do it if you were competent enough to mess around in the registry without wrecking your installation - but I wouldn't recommend this unless you REALLY knew what you were doing.

TLDR: you can't arbitrarily re-define function key bindings - it sucks I know
