Have a HP laptop and a Dell computer that has a Linksys router connected and is working and connected to the laptop through a wireless network connection.

How do I print from the laptop to the printer - the easiest, least computer savvy, best way ?

Also, I am trying to get it so I can access Micro Word and other documents that are on the main PC from the laptop - I know it has to do something with file sharing and I went into those settings and it warned about info being publicly displayed, etc so I did not want to change anything.

So, those are my 2 questions please - how to print on main printer with the laptop. PC and laptop are connected to the Linksys router and Lexmark Z53 (my ancient printer) is connected to the PC.

And how to access the PC documents, music files, and pictures from the laptop.

PLEASE HELP - I have been wanting to do this for ages. Again, I am not a computer wizard so please help me with the basic, easiest best setup. I am not totally computer illiterate by any means so I can handle so info but also not the best by any means, obviously as I am asking for help!!

Thanks! :O)

You start on the PC and go to Network Places and there should be a choice to the left to set up a home network. On the PC you give permission to get in to the files and to use the printer(s). Answer the questions. At the end, it gives you a choice about moving the codes/data to your device - copying it to a disk, to a memory stick or manually typing it in. So you go to the lap top and also choose setup a network and make the choices that gather your data.

Then to actually get to your files on the PC, you go back there and open the directory in Network Places (or Desktop or computer) calls shared files. Also open the Windows Explorer in another window. If you want to give access to everything, then go to My Computer and drag the C: icon to the Shared directory. But if other people get on the network, say to use the printer, they can see all that stuff. So you may wish to just drag the icon(s) for a certain group of files.

When you have done this, you should be able to start to print a document and if you go to the list of printers in the Print Dialog, find your network printer listed. The first time you use it, it may have to pull the driver for the printer off the network.

You can't access the programs that are on the PC, just the data files.

First of all, if you're going to share anything over your network, make sure your network is secure! Is there a password for your router? If not, add one. There should be instructions that came along with your router on how to do that, so I won't get into details here.

Next, the printer. Go on your PC:

- Start menu

- Printers and Faxes

- Right click on the printer you want to share and go to "Sharing..."

- Share this Printer and name it

It should be available on your laptop if everything is setup correctly (you might need to browse out to it the first time you print to it).

As for the files, whatever directory you want to share on your PC, just right click on it and go to "Sharing and Security". Select the "Share this folder" option and name the share. To access it on your laptop, go to Windows Explorer and under "My Network Places" you should find your PC and the shared directory under it.

Hope that helps you in the right direction!

Join same Home group on both PCs & Allow Printer Sharing.

If you use Windows Vista & Above

sure you are able to, properly does your printer have a community adaptor? if so you are able to attache it to the router. or you are able to have it related to a distinctive pc / server and share the printer out. The you are able to print to it wirelessly out of your pc
