Should I buy an open box laptop from Newegg?

If I buy it from HP, I get a year warranty obviously and with the open box Newegg deal, I have 250 bucks but obviously don't get the year warranty. Do you think this would be a stupid move? I'm thinking the chances of something going wrong with it within a year are in my favor so I really think I'm going to. Speak now or forever hold your peace!

I would yes. Newegg is a pretty honest company, and I am sure that they have some kind of return policy within 30 days or so, and that there may be a residual warranty left on it through HP if you register it online

The warranty might still be good? I bought an Open Box Lexmark laser printer with a 1-year warranty. Received the wrong, non-wireless model (be forewarned), which was annoying but Newegg offered to take it back. Anyways, I kept it, but when trying to remove the toner six months later a part broke off the printer inside. I called Lexmark, gave them the serial number, and they sent a replacement. So I'm not sure the warranty isn't still in effect. You only have a limited time to return it to Newegg, but the warranty is still good, I believe.

Most of the things that happen to a laptop are not covered by warranty anyway. Dropping, viruses abuse of other kinds. I would get it
