Look and see if there's a sticker on the bottom of the laptop with Windows version information and a product key. If there is, then use that. If that doesn't work, try contacting Microsoft about it and see if they can help resolve the problem.

And, if you decide to reinstall Windows, I'd recommend getting Windows 7 like the person above said. And yes, the new install will include a product key.

If you are talking about your operating product key then if your p.c is working then download belarc install and run. It will tell you all you want to know about what is inside your pc including the operating system product key. That is if you have not got it stuck to your laptop usually on the bottom

DELL laptops - Inspiron 1150 First one, purely one, and it sucked. some year after i offered it, the motherboard filled up - had to get replaced. some year after that, the harddisk failed, so I had to get a sparkling one. Then, a year and a 0.5 after that, I found out that the Inspiron 1150 had a layout flaw that compelled the fan to suck up airborne dirt and dirt (which defined the consistent overheating). I opened the keyboard and metallic underbody (which helps the keyboard), unscrewed the fan, wiped sparkling out the vent which replaced into caked in airborne dirt and dirt (and that i recommend plenty. It replaced right into some million/a million.5cm thick with airborne dirt and dirt), placed the fan back in, start up the pc and it did no longer boot (and specific, I did touch a metallic element of the back of the pc to do away with static electrical energy). My call studies with Dell are reliable and undesirable. First time, it took around >50 min to get by (I fell asleep on the telephone, ha), however the 2nd time, it took 2 min. yet, there are people who think of that Dells are an extremely reliable style. i'm useful that's fantastic for those human beings, yet i do unlike them.

Hello,if you want to buy new windows, you just try to buy windows 7,it will contain your product key(25 character,5 x 5).

But before buying new windows you can try to get your previous product key which you have lost, even i am not sure about it,but you can try this microsoft help link and ask them for help.

you can't buy just the key, you will have to buy Windows again. DO NOT buy vista, as it is garbage. Buy Windows 7 because it is newer, better, and more secure than ever before

there is a program called magic jellybean keyfinder, it will find the product key for your windows from the registry, look it up on google and read about it
