Hi Laura,

8 beeps for this system model indicate an issue with the LCD. Connect an external monitor and check. If you do not hear beeps when external monitor is connected, there is a possibility that the screen may have gone bad. Once you connect the external display, press Fn + F1 key which will switch the video image to the next display option i.e. to the external monitor.

If you are comfortable, you may try to re-seat the LCD cable and check if the issue persists. You may refer to the Service Manual http://bit.ly/11R8yLX. Please ensure to follow safety instructions mentioned in the manual.

Else, you may try replacing the LCD cable first (refer image below). Otherwise, the LCD screen might have to be replaced.

Look up Dell's number and call their customer support, most of the time it's free. There isn't really much to tell you on Yahoo Answers. Beeping is definitely not suppose to happen, and is most likely an error with the machine. If it's an older computer ot may be time for a new one, if not, it may be under warranty and Dell may work on it for free or give you a new one. If calling them doesn't help then call a local computer repair shop. I'm sorry if this wasn't helpful or you weren't satisfied with the answer.

try plugging it into a tv or computer screen, after turning the laptop on, wait 2mins, and keep pressing the windowskey + p and then enter, after repeating this and waiting 10 second between each one to check if anything comes up on the screen

if anything does then the lcd in the laptop is broke

if nothing does its the video card

also try clearing your cmos batter (youtube it) its normally a coin cell battery

just google n5110 8 beeps, theres plenty of other who had this

8 beeps indicate display failure. Check out my link below to see what others have come up with.

Try taking out the battery->un-plugging the powersource-> then hold in the power button for 30 secounds (This un-charges the Bios and resets it).

Or this could be a warning signal that your RAM is dead.

You mean it bleeps 7 times and then goes off - You killed the CPU.

You need to contact DELL.

When it overheated it damaged the CPU to such an extent it broke.
