Question:
Gaming/Computer professionals help please. I want to play games with my integrated graphics card.?

Well i have an integrated graphics card on my laptop(yea yea i know, Not looking for opinions on it's quality.) Anyways it's not possible to put a graphics card in and i really couldn't afford it anyways.

I love games and not even necessarily top of the line games. When i go to sites such as "Can you run it?" My specs match up on graphics card properties but it says "Requires ATI blah/blah or Nvidia blah/blah(models). For example :

Minimum: 64 MB AGP video card with DirectX 9.0b compatible driver (NVIDIA GeForce3+ /ATI Radeon 8500+)
You Have: Intel(R) HD Graphics

It simply says i cannot run it because it's not ATI or Nvidia, But at the same time my graphics card seems to provide much better than minimal needs :

Features: Minimum attributes of your Video Card
Required / You Have
Video RAM 64 MB / 1.2 GB
3D Yes / Yes
Pixel Shader version 1.1 / 4.0
Vertex Shader version 1.1 / 4.0

So is it just impossible to play any such games if i have this graphics card or does it mainly run on specs rather than brand?

The problem is not in the amount of video RAM that you have, but your integrated graphics simply do not compare to an ATI or Nvidia dedicated video card with much better shaders, core processors, etc

The best you'll be able to play are older games like Doom 3, Sims 2, etc

Here's a general list on the Intel site. This isn't any guarantee of how WELL they will play though

Sure no problem :)

Some games will not run on an Intel graphics chip, but many will.

I have the 4500MHD chip in this laptop, and its gaming performance is quite acceptable on all but the very latest games.

Much more of a gaming issue for me is that Win 7 doesn't like some of my older games (V8 Supercars 3, for one). The game WILL run with everything maxed-out on the 4500MHD, however, and the frame-rate is perfectly acceptable.

So, basically, a game might run, or it might not. See if you can try a mate's copy first, before you buy, or try a demo copy, and you won't waste money on something you can't play.

i think you can play plenty of the old games........and even some of the recent games that are not that demanding on graphics....i had Intel hd on my last laptop and i used to play some strategy games......to name a few age of empires 3 and sins of a solar empire....these are the only two games i successfully played without 0 lag......i didn't try playing many games anyways.......click on this link and you can see all the games compatible with Intel hd graphic card.. depending on what kind you have: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-012643.htm

and can you run it will always give you fail if you don't have a dedicated graphic card....they need to fix their system

and one more thing there are plenty games that don't make it on the intel list but they still play on minimum settings...the best way to find out is download the demo and try it before buying any game......if no demo then ask in the games community.
