In short, only the http://sony-bios-password.biosremoval.com

worked, but it worked like a champ. they can unlock all sony laptops, notebooks & craptops

Just buy your self a new 42'' lcd screen tv and stay off line, this is better for your health. or just follow my recommendations:

Previously, I wrote about Resetting a BIOS Password , which outlined some steps that can be used to reset the security on a PC in which the password has been set in the system BIOS. Sometimes, this is referred to as a CMOS password , which is technically more accurate because password changes do not require a BIOS flash (see Computer Hope's article What is the difference between BIOS and CMOS? ), but even techs often use BIOS and CMOS interchangeably.

This information is being made available for those unfortunate people who buy a second-hand computer, say from a pawn shop, legitimately own the computer but cannot make changes to the system.

In that article, I went into how to remove the battery and discharge the motherboard in order to remove a password. Likewise, I give hints as to how to look for jumpers to reset a password if that does not work. I then wrote:

I don't know of any current motherboard where the above would not work. However, if neither of these works, then Tweaking with Vishal lists these and other methods in How to Reset / Remove / Bypass a BIOS or CMOS Password? . Personally, I would go to the end of his article and try one of the backdoor passwords before trying to use software to crack it. Resetting the CMOS with software is always a bit of a gamble, and even a small fluctuation in power while writing out new values can scramble your BIOS.

I should have written, I don't know of any current desktop motherboards where the above would not work. Laptops are a different animal, but it is valid to at least try the battery method with them. The motherboard can be difficult to get to, and it is a lot of work should there not even be a jumper to reset the password (which is very likely).

sony Laptop don't really have an easily decipherable backdoor password, other than some older models which might have sony (without the quotes, natch). You have to find a utility to generate the backdoor password for Latitudes.

Before going this route, I tried some of the other available password crackers, but none of them could read or wipe the CMOS settings. It takes a sony specific site. It was a pain to find, since most of the articles I found were about Windows passwords instead of CMOS passwords, and Google for whatever reason mixed them together.

Even though I couldn't find much information on it, I was working on a sony Laptop. Turns out that the same sony utility site that works on older Latitudes also works on it. You can find the called sonypasswords.com

I bought the password. I was then able to go to the other computer and unlock the Admin Password.

setupscreen

Please note that unlock is not the same as deleting the password! You will likely have to unlock it and then remove the password. You delete the Admin Password by entering the current password and for the new password simply press the [Enter] key. Deleting the Admin Password also removes the System Password.

I had wondered before about the debug commands listed in the external link (in my original article as quoted above). Out of curiosity, I did put the system password back on and try the debug commands outlined in the linked article:

debug

o 70 2E

o 71 FF

quit

This did nothing except waste some time. The system still required a password to get into it.

worked, but it worked like a champ.

A Sony laptop can be equipped with a BIOS password, which is a password that's part of the laptop itself, not the operating system installed on the laptop's hard drive. This password adds an extra degree of protection against hackers and thieves and prevents a thief from digitally accessing the data on the hard drive. Because a BIOS password is part of the Sony laptop and not the operating system, it is difficult but possible to reset with the right tools and basic technical knowledge.

Items you will need

Phillips screwdriver

Open the access panel to the password reset jumper if your Sony laptop has one. Consult your manual for the access panel's location. Some access panels have a tab you slide, while others are held in place with a screw.

Step 2

Pry the plastic cover off the reset jumper with your fingernail. The reset jumper is a small pin port labeled "PSWD" with three pins. Put the plastic back onto the jumper over pin 1 and 2 instead of 2 and 3. Wait 90 seconds.

Step 3

Pry the plastic off the reset jumper again and place it back onto the number 2 and 3 pins. Turn the laptop on. Repeat step 2 if the password is still present. Leave the plastic clip on pins 1 and 2 for a longer duration than last time.

Without a PSWD Reset Jumper

Step 1

Locate the reserve battery, also known as the CMOS battery, if your Sony laptop is not equipped with a password reset jumper. The CMOS battery's location varies among Sony laptop models. Consult your manual for the battery's location on your specific Sony laptop model. Many Sony reserve batteries are located underneath the main laptop battery. Remove the main battery and look for a sticker under it with instructions on removing the secondary CMOS battery.

Step 2

Remove your Sony's reserve battery per the instruction manual or sticker located under the main battery. Removing the reserve battery resets the laptop's BIOS password. Wait 90 seconds, then replace the reserve battery. Reconnect the main battery.

Step 3

Press the "Power" button to turn the laptop on.

Assuming that you have the bios password follow the steps below

if you don't have the bios password get it from here: http://www.biospro.com/

Disabling the Setup Password If You Have Access to the Current Password

Step 1

Power down your computer. Start the PC up again, pressing the "F2" key as soon as it powers up, to enter the BIOS setup program.

Step 2

Enter the current setup password to access the settings screen. Use the arrow keys to highlight "Setup password," and use the left and right cursor keys to change to setting to "not enabled."

Step 3

Press the "Esc" key to close the system setup program. Ensure you select the option to save your changes. Your computer will restart and the setup password will be disabled.

Disabling the Setup Password If the Current Password Has Been Lost

Step 1

Power down your PC and disconnect the main power cord. Open the computer case and touch a metal surface on the outer casing of the computer to ground yourself, preventing damage to any internal components.

Step 2

Look on the green motherboard for a small plastic "jumper" block connecting two pins labelled "PSWD." Carefully remove the jumper block connecting the two pins. Replace the PC cover and re-connect the computer's power cord.

Step 3

Power up the computer, holding "F2" as soon as it starts up to enter the BIOS setup program. Use the arrow keys to highlight "Setup password," and ensure it is set to "not enabled." Press the "Esc" key to close the BIOS setup program.

Step 4

Power down the computer, disconnect it from the power source and remove the cover. As before, touch a metal surface on the outer casing of the computer in order to ground yourself, thus preventing damage to any internal components. Replace the small plastic jumper connecting the two "PSWD" labelled pins. Close the computer cover.

Step 5

Power up your PC. The setup password should now be disabled.

ive removed the coin shaped battery from the Motherboard many times and it has fixed it for me. the battery is meant to continuously send a small amount of energy to maintain the motherbords memory (includes the bios) when you remove the battery for about 60 seconds (allows time to discharge) it will forget everything you did and start up with a blank mind if you will. i havent had to do it in a while but i can tell you it will not harm your pc in anyway to do so. if at all it will just reset any bios setting to factory default

are you talking about bios or hard drive password ?

if you are talking about bios I would tell you to remove the CMOS battery but it wont do any good,

I would tell you to short circuit the bios chip, but don't where it is,

you see, the bios password is stored on the Bios chip and it does not depend on battery power

so, your only hope is to contact sony tech support, they can come up wit a bios or hard drive backdoor

password which will unlock your laptop in minutes !

If you are running Sony servers, it is recommended to enable BIOS password. This is will prevent accidental changes done to Sony BIOS settings by others who get physical access to the server.

You can setup two different types of passwords in Sony BIOS:

System Password: This will be prompted before the system can boot up, and load the operating system.

Setup password: The system will prompt for this password only when you are trying to access the BIOS settings.

Depending on your situation, it might be a good idea to enable both the system and setup password at the BIOS level. I recommend that you at least enable BIOS password.

Press F2 for System Setup

When the Sony server is booting up, press F2 to start system setup, from where you can change Sony BIOS settings.

BIOS System Security

From the Sony BIOS main menu, scroll down to “System Security” and press enter.

Password Not Enabled

From here, you can see that both the System and Setup password is not enabled by default.

Enable System Password (and Setup Password)

Scroll to “System Password” and press enter, which will prompt you to enter the password that you like to set for the system. Please understand that if you set this password, you have to enter this password everytime you start the system. Do the same thing for Setup Password.

Don’t forget this bios password. If you forget, then you have go through the painful process of resetting the Sony BIOS password.

Password is Enabled

Once you’ve enabled both the password, from the “System Security” menu, you’ll see that that both system and setup password is enabled as shown below.

password is set

System Password Prompt (During Startup)

From now-onwards, anytime you start the system, it will not load the operating system, unless you specify the system password as shown below.

12345

Setup Password Prompt (To Access BIOS)

If you press F2, to get to the BIOS, it will prompt for the setup password as shown below. If you don’t enter a valid password here, you cannot access the Sony BIOS settings anymore.

Removing CMOS battery won't do any good, it will have no effect at all

as the password is stored into the bios chip, the only known company

that can help you is http://sony-bios-password.biosremoval.com/ they can unlock bios

and hard drive by calculating the password from your laptop's service tag.

I have two things for you to try. It is a bugger to get the password out on the sony Laptop. Here is a couple of things that I have tried with some success.

Next power the machine to boot into windows. If your drivers are in for the wireless or Lan card open internet explorer and navigate to sony Laptop.com and select suppport, select downloads and enter 6530b. it will take to to page to select the Operating system your using. Select your Operating system and on the driver page you need download the fingerprint reader driver, sony Laptop ProtectTools Security Manager 4.10 and sony Laptop ProtectTools BIOS Configuration. Install the fingerprint driver (if needed) sony Laptop Protect Tools software and sony Laptop ProtectTools BIOS Configuration . After reboot run sony Laptop ProtectTools Security Manager For Administrators and choose Bios configuration. You will see at the top a place for you to enter a password for the BIOS however BIOS will not give you this option alone so set your new BIOS Password and when you restart the machine press F10 to get bios setup, enter your password and choose "User Management" delete the user under Protect tools User. select reset fingerprint reader and under TPM select "reset to factory defaults".

DESCRIPTION:

If the BIOS administrator password is not set, and sony Laptop ProtectTools security is enabled in Security Manager, then you may not be able to enter the Computer Setup utility at startup as a BIOS administrator. You will only be allowed to enter the setup as a ProtectTools user with limited access.

SCOPE:

The specific notebook PCs affected by this issue are listed in the Hardware Platforms Affected section at the bottom of this advisory.

RESOLUTION:

To resolve this issue, create a BIOS administrator password and delete previous ProtectTools user logs by following this procedure:

1. Download and install the latest SSM utility (sony Laptop System Software ManagerVERSION: 2.10 Rev.A SP42536

2. Navigate to c:\Program Files\sony Packard\SSM .

3. Access biosconfigutility.exe to reset the BIOS administrator password.

a. From a command prompt, navigate to the SSM folder.

b. Type biosconfigutility.exe to start the utility. A list of commands displays.

c. Type /newsetuppassword:"password" to create a new BIOS administrator password.

d. Close the command window.

4. Restart the notebook PC and press F2 at startup.

5. Log in using the new BIOS administrator password.

6. Choose User Management and delete any previous ProtectTools users.

7. Save the new settings and exit startup.

my son locked out my sony laptop and I need to unlock it,

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. The only way to reset your windows password 100% safe is to use a software called Reset Password Pro.

The software allows you to create a boot-disk, that can be made on a CD/DVD or USB stick. The boot-disk can then be inserted into any locked machine, and it's a simple case of pressing reset. Here is their official site: http://www.resetwindowspass.com
