I personally have a Toshiba laptop and it's been no trouble except having Windows Vista loaded on it. Spec wise, between the two compared, the Toshiba is a winner in terms of processor and hard drive space, with the processor bus on a laptop being almost a non-contending issue (most laptops aren't bought for high end gaming/data), it is almost not worth paying attention to. In terms of everything else, I upgraded from a Vaio slimline to my Toshiba and don't regret doing so. I cannot say anything regarding their support though, as I have had it for 8 months, and still haven't had any issues that require me contacting them for tech support.

For day to day work, and light casual gaming, the Toshiba is a winner hands down (plus HDMI Output, meaning you can use it with newer TV's and LCD's) So I would imaagine it's more geared towards multimedia and productivity.

For more serious gaming and such, I imagine that the Sony would be better (Non-shared/integrated graphics card with its own memory), meaning that you would have all 2 GB of ram usable. Whereas the Toshiba would be using shared ram (up to probably 768 MB in gaming.) So for serious gaming or high end multimedia, the Sony might be a better choice.

I actually have had 2 toshiba's in the last 5 years and I loved them. It all depends on what you want to do with them. Are you going to be using it for personal or work? School work that requires a lot of hard drive space to store stuff? What kinds of graphics do you need, top end? How fast do you want it to run. lol as you can see there are a lot fot hings to consider, as well as price.

If you can help it, go with windows XP operating system instead of Vista. If you have no choice but to go with vista, make sure you get at least 1gig of ram (virtual memory) on account of the fact it requires more than what they usually give you. Or even better yet, when Windows 7 comes out get that (I'm working with the beta version right now look into getting that.) The toshiba you gave as an option is a decent computer for the price (I'm assuming) I am from the US so I don't know how the euro's compare to US dollars sorry. I would say for that laptop though it would go for around $600 to $700 here. the 500gig hard drive is great and so is the 4 gigs or RAM. And if you go with vista, make sure you get the Home Premium Package...the others are crap IMO

Hope this helps.

Apple- hands down. Some might say you are only paying for looks with Apple computers, but my first (12" Aluminum Powerbook G4) lasted for close to 6 years. Not bad for a laptop! I just bought a 13" MacBook Pro. Programs operate smoothly with few crashes, Macs are extremely virus resistant at this juncture, and the operating systems are efficient beyond those of most competitors.  = ♥ I don't understand your second question...and also- it's Which, not Witch.

The Toshiba has a bigger screen and bigger hard drive and is cheaper. Personally i like Toshibas, Im on a Satellite laptop now. I've never had a Sony.
