Please help me with my laptop?

Well for Christmas I received a HP Pavilion dv2000 notebook with Windows Vista installed onto to it. Anyways, I figured out how to get the built-in camera to work, but when I try to record, it only records video not sound. I made sure the built-in microphone works by only recording sound and I was successful. So please help me and tell me why my laptop won't record sound and video at the same time and tell me how to fix it.

Go into the settings/options for your web cam software and make sure the devices are configured properly.

go to control panel and look at sound devices......in there there is a slide level for mic input.....I bet it is on mute or

slid down too low to record.....slide it up and check to see if it works
