Why did my internet service abruptly end on my laptop?

I was viewing a video and I lost the internet and can not access fire fox or explorer. All of my connections are fine. My desktop has internet service.

there are many variables here, but the most likely problem is your wireless router or combination modem router kicked you off (assuming you are wireless). reset the wireless router or combination modem router and try again. if this doesn't work i would disconnect and then reconnect from the network using the wireless connection software on your computer. if you are still having problems you may have a weak signal from your router. the signal travels line of sight from the router to the computer. if there are obstructions between the router and computer, say a pantry full of canned goods, a refrigerator or an antique led-based mirror, this will kill your signal. the signal also likes to go through walls at a perpendicular angle. if it's going through a wall sideways every beam is a separate wall as far as the signal is concerned. after these steps i would restart my computer. if none of this works you may have a problem with your wireless card or drivers.

Are you going through wired or wireless. If wireless, try unplugging and plugging in the router. Some older chipsets in these routers will trip out the wireless connection occasionally.
