I've recently taken apart my Medion MIM2120 notebook as there was a problem with the charging input jack. Problem is now fixed but after putting it back together, the notebook isn't recognising the hard disk. I've tried a recovery CD and when it gets to the stage that you can choose to repair windows etc it says no hard disk found. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting but nothing. In the BIOS setttings it says primary IDE disabled and I can't enable it, there is no setting to let me enable. I select the boot sequence choosing only hard disk and it says it cant find it and may need a manufacturers recovery disk. Can anyone help?

Hi Russ

Did you remove the hdd while doing the repair also did you remove all power from computer (battery).

This is a difficult on to answer without having the machine in front of you.

If you removed the hdd check you did not bend any connection pins easy to do if you removed it from its carrier was there an adaptor on the pins some notebooks have adaptors my old Medion did. Remove the hdd check it out and replace if no joy if you can lay your hands to another hdd try that.

Did you earth the computer when doing the repair and yourself as the static electricity could damage some components.

I don't think the recovery disk will cure the problem but you may find you can download it from Medion.

you could try going into bios and choosing setup default

Hope this is of some help

Sorry missed your question about primary IDE disabled. Scroll down with up/down buttons to primary IDE it should be highlighted press enter and choose enable in the box that comes on to the screen.

You cant enable it because it is not detecting a hard drive. make sure the drive is installed correctly. I hope you didn't drop that drive when you took the pc apart.. Make sure there is nothing intruding in the drives connector.
