I have an adult that has severe short-term memory problems that is asking me about a good laptop for them. The need it to do the basics (word processing, email, internet) but the most important thing is that it have a very, very simple interface. This person wants independence, but needs to be able to use the laptop and not get confused. It's not like this person isn't bright, but because of the memory problems, all the options gets very confusing, quickly. I was thinking about the OneLaptop one (XO laptop) http://laptop.org/en/index.shtml because it is nice & simplified. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thank you!

Every "normal" laptop you get will all have the same operating system on it, and thats Vista. .. You can get a better Operating System which is more usable, and there are many places to leave yourself notes in your email inbox without even sending yourself an email and post it notes for yor desktop as well as a list of to do's in your calendar.

Its OS X for the mac, the best laptop for you is the Macbook, or the Macbook pro

I would recommend a MacBook, as the Linux that the OneLaptop runs can get very confusing with terminal commands, kernel compiling, etc. You'll need to pay a pretty penny though, but it should be easy to use and simple.
