You'd better check if you locked the touchpad first.

on laptop ,there will be a "Fn" key, press it ,at the same time ,press the key which has a ico looks like the touchpad on it.It will lock/unlock the touchpad.

If what I said above is not working, reinstall the driver.

If it still doesn't work ,I 'm afraid you should send it to repair.

I agree with upstairs, first you should check if you open your touchpad(sometimes if you plug in a mouse, the touchpad will stop working), secondly, you can reinstall the drive of your touchpad to see if it work, if both of two can't save your touchpad, I'm afraid you should take it to computer work shop to repair. ;-)

could it be disabled? or maybe there is no driver installed for it? is any device listed as "unknown" in "device manager"?

does anything in particular happen if you attach a classic mouse to the laptop?

did the touchpad worked in the past? did anything happen since the time it worked last and today?

ON my laptop there is a function key FN + F7 that turns the touch pad on/off.

Check your special function keys.
