I want to upgrade my RAM to 2GB since I have noticed that on 1 GB it the availability is less than 35-40 percent. The thing is that I have both my sockets taken up by 2x512MB memory modules. I really don't want to buy two 1GB modules for each socket. My question is will a 2GB module work??

Yes, it can support up to 2GB of RAM. To be sure , you can go to "Crucial.com " and have a free scan and they will tell you how much RAM is better for your computer !
