I have recently installed non genuine windows 7 to my pc whose system is originally windows vista home premium. Then I changed my mind and put my original system from original cd back and now (after several installations) network connection doesn't work at all - no wifi nor any other is detected. What am I supposed to do

Chances are the install disk you used doesn't contain all the required drivers for your system. You'll need to either use the Dell "Restoration" disk, or (because you can't access the internet with your PC) use another computer to go to Dell's website and download the approiate drivers. Get the model # AND serial # of your PC - you might need both. Bring a USB flash drive, the drivers are going to total a few MB of data at least.

Dell "restoration" disks sometimes don't contain all the required drivers for the hardware, most of those are contained on a small recovery partition on the hard drive, which was likely wiped out during the install process.

Hope that helps,

Jason

I think there's a problem with the installation itself.Exactly what happens while connecting to the network? Is it able to identify the connections available??Or does it simply shows unknown connection status??

There is a switch on the righthand side front of the laptop, make sure it is pushed forward to turn on wifi.

You should be able to restore to factory defaults, everything will be as it was when new.
