Question:
Why won't my laptop run games like it used to before I wiped it (again)?

My laptop used to play Minecraft with OptiFine on medium settings, and Diablo III decently on low settings. It started getting slow, so I wiped my hard drive, like I do on a routine-like basis, and it usually fixes any problems right then and there, but now Diablo III is unplayable (it starts but gets very low fps during gameplay,) and Minecraft is only playable for the first minute before lagging so bad it can't be played.

I have run ComboFix to clean up any viruses that may be there, CCleaner, Defraggler, everything I can think of. I don't use antivirus because it slows down my laptop too bad, and I installed the operating system correctly (I've done it before so I know how to do that) and I installed all the drivers from the CD my laptop came with. I also noticed that videos sometimes lag as well, which has never happened before. Because of the different things that are happening I am thinking it is my graphics card (integrated chip) (Intel (HD) Graphics 3000). The last time it was lagging like this I noticed that Amnesia: The Dark Descent would have the problem with the black screen and white dot, so I had to go through a process of downloading a driver from the Intel website and use the "Have Disk" method in order to get it updated in a way that allowed me to play that game, which I did, and it runs fine, but Minecraft and Diablo III still run horrible now.

I realize my graphics card is not the best (bad), but I wouldn't be asking this question if that was all there was to it. I used to play Diablo III online with up to 3 other people and never lagged really bad, although it did lag it was still playable, and Minecraft I used to play with my 2 brothers no problem, only a little lag when the view distance was any farther than "normal", but it ran just fine at normal view distance and low settings (almost as low as they would go. OptiFine allowed me to run it at 'far' view distance just fine after fine-tuning settings to make some things even lower).

I updated DirectX, and Java; Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Raiderz run just fine, just like normal. The only thing that is different is that the graphics driver I now have installed is a higher version than the one I used to have (I can tell by the date the driver was updated and the last time I wiped my hard drive was long before that.) I do not know what version I had before or where to check/download it from, so any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Combofix is not a toy, and should not be used by someone who reinstalls a Operating system to make his computer run faster.Any top gamer knows how to tweak his OS to make it faster than a fresh install. The first thing I do with a new computer is tweak it for speed. You generally lack of knowledge has messed up your computer. Ccleaner is a great file cleaning tool, but if you are using it to clean the registry that's another mistake you are making.I would reinstall again, and not run Combofix. Then google how to tweak you OS,once done you won't ever have to reinstall for more speed.

If you reinstalled Windows then Combofix may have borked it. Combofix is a "last resort" that causes as many problems as it solves. Likely you will need to reinstall Windows again and honestly I would never use Combofix (if its FUBARed then best bet is just reinstall OS and not deal with issues). The ONLY time to ever use Combofix is if it is FUBARed AND reinstalling is not an option.

As for the issue, it sounds like your computer is overheating. When that happens, the CPU and the GPU(since you have an integrated video chip) underclock which would cause the performance issues. Try blowing out the vents with compressed air. Also make sure all the fans are working.

Uninstall your drivers completely.

Reinstall.

Make sure your computer is using your graphics card and not the processor.

Add more details telling me your CPU and RAM usage (you can get this from Task Manager)

If the above fixes don't work, message me your Skype or add it in additional details and I can walk you through some steps to fix it.
