I prefer mac!

Most college kids use mac, they are ten times easier to use.

Pros to using Mac:

You don't have to worry about viruses AT ALL!

You have the number 1 (rated by Consumer Reports) support

You have the OSX Leopard operating system, way better than Vista, which Microsoft is having to constantly modify to keep it working.

You have cool programs like iLife, .Mac, GarageBand, Dashboard, PhotoBooth, Spaces.

PC cons:

Millions of viruses waiting for you.

Vista is hard to use.

Microsoft is hard to deal with.

PC's do not have the advantages you have with a mac

Macs are definitely better for school and home, especially if you like to be creative.

My favorite model is the iMac, it is just 1 easy piece. No hooking up the monitor to the tower, and then connecting all

power cables, etc. It is slim, sleek, powerful, will impress your friends! For a laptop, the MacBook pro is for heavy duty use, if you are in college, the MacBook will be fine.

Really if you want both, buy the mac, and you can have both

Windows and OSX Leopard on it.

GO MAC!

I am a power user and I go with PC on this one even though I do own a Macbook Pro. PCs have a lot of customization and they have just as many features as a Mac does. I like PCs becasue there is so much hardware available for them. In the mac world you have some good hardware but the pickings are slim, so it leads to less customization. Also if you are using your computer for home/school either comptuer works good but for a cheaper price? Go with a PC. Despite what any Mac fan will tell you they are expensive and if all you are going to do is use office, play some videos, surf the net and watch movies then go with a PC. If you are a total newbie to computers then Mac might be good for you but most college kids are not and get the hang of things pretty quickly. Mac is more for the user who want it all without the effort of thinking about customization. My favorite computer company right now for desktops is HP. I love their computers and have owned, laptops, PDAs, monitors, desktops and scanners from them and I have had no issues with them. I hope this helps.

PC but the preference depends on what your requirements are. if you are a college student, I dont think you would be requiring a MAC. Most college students do not have MAC. MAC is a more powerful notebook, and therefore, it is required for those who need high power computing. There are no huge pros and cons involved. For home/school use, I would say PC is better because it is easier to maintain, manage, and all the softwares and hardwares are easier to find. MAC is a more sophisticated technology and they should be used by professionals. So even if you can afford it, you should buy a PC because they would fulfill your needs and would be easy to maintain.

More promoting, a higher advertising and marketing group, functional layout, homogeneity. PC is practically any pc now not a mac, and of path they're going to run the gamut in satisfactory/cost/layout. Therefore the one factor that Macs rather have over each and every PC is that they are able to run Apple proprietary application. There's additionally an photograph factor that I'm noticing with Macs. Due to their branding and promoting Macs are recognized as "cooler" than their PC counterpart in particular subcultures. I'm when you consider that plenty of you place down 'virus loose' as one of the vital most important execs of a mac. That nonetheless has to do with the Unix headquartered working process run at the Mac instead than the Mac itself. If PC customers are so willing, they are able to additionally get a deadly disease loose working process in one of the vital many Linux flavors.

-I much prefer a PC [I've used on forever but now I have a Mac]. I've had such a hard time finding video converter and file openers that work on MAC and I think a PC is set up so much simpler. If my roommate wasn't a Apple freak I wouldn't have known how to do most things.

-I have a Mac for college because I need the film editing programs that only work in Apples -if I wasn't a film major I'd have a PC.

- A Mac's really expense but they last longer and work faster longer, a PC is simpler, familiar, and compatible with more applications.

-If your used to a PC and like it keep with it, if you want to learn a new format and setup then get a MAC. If you like Mac, then keep that because it may last you longer.

It depends on your use. Mac's are good for art, design, film, music, etc. The Mac's can also run Microsoft Word, Excel, etc to write college papers.

PC's are good for office, gaming, and can be used for college as well.

Mac's can be a little bit more expensive but they're very fast and also you don't have to worry about your computer getting a virus. Mac's batteries do suck sometime though.

I use Linux, Arch Linux to be exact. Unlike most Ubuntu users, I know enough about Linux to know it's still NOT for most users. I like it because my distribution is fast, infinitely configurable, and never tries to protect me from myself.

Pros of Linux:

Speed, configurability, price, runs on a dead badger, repositories stuffed with software, a fantastic forum and wiki, command-line centric, well-documented man pages, Wine is pretty good by this point, almost all software is free in both senses

Cons of Linux:

Obtuse, no paid tech support (usually,) too many options, not pre-configured, too heavy on the command line, lacks commercial software people recognize, dreary man pages with no pictures, Wine's hard to configure.

Basically, Linux is a matter of perspective. As is OSX or various Windows operating systems. College kids seem to disproportionately like Macintoshes W/ OSX, home users seem to favor Windows resoundingly, and serious users like hackers, security experts, certain government agencies, and corporate backends tend tend to favor Linux and other flavors of unix. Linux can meet most needs, but running servers and embedded hardware is its traditional strongpoint.

I like mac because it supports the iphone sdk and has xcode. I like mac because it looks nice. I like windows because the games are great. I like windows because a lot of programs are written for windows. I like linux the best. it comes with all free software, the OS is free, whereas you need to drop >$1000 for a machine you can't even right click on. You need to spend $400 for an OS that you can't even extract 2 zip files on the desktop without getting a BSOD. I like free OSes that come with almost anything you'd ever need along with google's calendar and contact list. I like OSes you can use the command line with (mac works for that) I like OSes that support web server admins. Now I know the question wasn't phrased MAC LINUX OR PC but my goal is to inform the general public that Linux is almost always the way to go!

--EDIT:--

Linux also works on any machine-- laptop, desktop, server,32 or 64 bit, doesn't matter... works ANYWHERE! they also have Live CDs so you don't have to have the distro on your hard drive but you can still use it.

GO UBUNTU LINUX!
