mate,

you either need a new one or u need to get your in for an MOT!!

i'm not sure whether that can be fixed

maybe something to do with the software u r using to play the dvds or could be the dvd's themselves

keep in touch to let me know what it is

would be interesting to find out

cheers

You haven't given the make and model of laptop - that would be a big help.

DVD's are processor intensive. Here are some tips.

If you are running Windows XP or Vista with 256MB RAM then the processor is being slaughtered and the sound is suffering. Try adding more RAM to help this problem. PC World do 512MB for around £30 if you pre-order it and then pick it up in store. Helped my sister's laptop immensely.

How many other programs are you running at the same time? Like torrent programs or printing in the background.

Have you recently swept for spyware/adware using Ad-Aware or done a registry clean with CCleaner? Sometimes background programs are robbing the processor of power.

Music CDs are simple in comparison to Video DVDs so we cannot compare them like for like. DVDs have to separate the video AND the music/soundtrack and video is very intensive...
