I was looking for a laptop under 1000$ and I found this.
It's very very very pretty in real life.
But I didn't know if it was worth the price.
Also, I've seen a lot of people bashing Gateway laptops? Do they really suck?

This Gateway would be acceptable around this price range. While the screen is smaller (14") and has a lower processor, it does have a bigger hard drive and a decent amount of memory. As for Gateway's quality, I have owned two Gateway desktops in a row. Both did have many problems such as crashes, hardware failure, etc. but this is to be expected of any computer. I would highly suggest checking out HP, Sony, and Toshiba as well. At the bottom I have posted a similar style laptop (only with 17" screen) that I was able to find at Staples for only $600 on sale.

So basically, if you are looking at any i3 laptop, a decent price range would be between $600 and $800. If you can elaborate on your needs of hard drive space, wanted size, memory requirements, I can give you a better estimated price and suggest some good laptops and where to buy them.

I have to say that I am not a fan of gateway laptops. I think, if I remember correctly, that it is an off-brand of acer, which, in 2009, had the most failures (28% of 30,000 laptops) in one year. gateway was second or third in line for the worst.

I have had bad experiences with gateway in the past, and I tend to avoid them.

I suggest ASUS or Toshiba

Just last June I bought a Dell Inspiron 1764 with an i5 processor at Best Buy for slightly less than what the Gateway costs. I would keep looking for a better deal.

The Gateway isn't a laptop that particularly stands out in the price range. HP is actually a bit cheaper and I don't really trust Gateway's reliability.

You can do better a tigerdirect.com - at least $100 less.

I have worked on Gateway laptops and several of my friends have them - I and they do not think they suck. They are not a bad laptop.
