My Toshiba laptop function keys won't work without pressing the FN button?
My function keys used to work, so i could turn down the volume, mute, change contrast ect, however now they only work if you hold down the FN key. Please help, thanks. these keys used to work without using the FN key (until mid december) and I was thinking that maybe a function has changed
I dont have a numlock key

Did you recently make any changes to any Toshiba programs on your PC?

Try opening the Windows Mobility Center. There should be an option there to change the Fn Key Behavior.

Else, maybe try this?

Try this. I know it's not HP but might work. or maybe search Action Mode from your start button.

Lock the Fn key in the sense that you will use the function keys(F1,F2,F3...............)+FN key combinations without using the FN key then the simple way of locking the FN key is boot into the bios using F10 key on startup that is used on most hp laptops then in the bios screen select the option system configuration. under system configuration you will find something as action mode keys and make it enabled then save the changes and then exit the bios screen. hope the issue will be resolved on restart to unlock get into bios screen and disable action mode keys.
