Im really into videos and editing and stuff like that. I kind of want one but they are really expensive. Im getting some money to buy a new computer for college and was wondering if a mac would be good, or what you recommend.
Thanks for the advice

I got a macbook pro for my birthday a couple days ago (14 days) to be exact. I got the 15' intel i7 with 2.66 GHZ with a 3.33 GHZ overclock, 4GB RAM, a 500 GB hard drive @ 5400 RPM and the 1050p antiglare screen.

I do alot of video and photo editing:

Adobe Photoshop

Final Cut Pro

If you're going to run pro software, you're going to need a big hard drive as your scratch disk. if you're going to get a macbook pro, well here are the pro's and cons:

PROS:

Multi-touch trackpad

Built in wi-fi b/g/n and can run on 5/2.4 GHZ bands

Stereo speakers with subwoofers

Magsafe powercord (has a magnetic connection so it breaks away easily to prevent the laptop from dropping off a table

Sophisticated, elegant design.

Aluminum body

Built-in webcam and microphone

F-function keys are shortcuts to everyday functions

backlit keyboard with ambient light sensor

Battery gauge on side

long battery life 8-10 hours (mentioned on website)

Built in SD card slot

Ability to run windows OS via bootcamp

CONS

Trackpack is one giant button, and makes a loud CLUNK everytime you press it. Right click function is extremely awkward.

only 2 USB ports

Glossy screen is a fingerprint magnet

Price

Magsafe cables break off too easily

Aluminum body is prone to dents and melting at high temperatures

Average battery life is 3-4 hours (for me, anyway)

Awkward thumbscoop

Dissasembly is ridiculous

ambient light sensor is glitchy

My rating? 8.2 (if you get the same model I bought)

Read this and see for yourself wether you like it or not.

The Air uses Flash memory and not an SSD by the way. I went with the 15" Pro because I wanted an internal disk drive and a better CPU. I love it and I know I made the right choice. Also keep in mind the Intel graphics scales as you put more RAM in the system. At 4GB you have 384MB and at 8GB you have 512MB. Another point for the Pro is that you can install a SSD or Hybrid drive if you want to and install another HDD in place of the disk drive.
