It depends on the purpose. If it for graphics and high end programming it better be with a high memory and more processor speed. If it is for home and internet use just get the cheaper ones but make sure it upgradable.

I'm very happy with the Dell Inspiron 600m. Good battery life and performance, parts are cheap if they break, and it has a dedicated graphics chip.

the girl before me mispelled compaq but I thinksomthing like a Dell or Toshiba they have nice designs but its your decision try them all out see what you like and go from there

Dell..that's what I have. But Toshiba or Compaque might also be good.
