Since you are into multimedia applications I highly recommend Mac. And yes it is worth your money aside from it is stylish, it is also works in OSX and it has less risk for viruses.

Going for a Mac is totally not a bad option. As Mac's are pretty good and plus pretty expensive, but the problem you will encounter is the OS, I believe this OS is really hard to get through especially for those who are switching from Windows XP to Mac.

But what I would suggest that you should go for Refurbished laptops which will also serve your purpose as they are cheap and plus you can get the same technology in less price.

Please visit the below websites which will help you in getting a good refurbished laptop @ cheap prices

Id go with the new studio 17 laptop. Its a 17 inch screen, its 999$, a good graphic card for video editing, and you can get an even better one, which is the 4670 ati radeon HD card for just 100$ more. Id rather that over a macbook, to be honest http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dydofu1&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=laptop_studio_17
