I will be streaming movies and music, watching dvds (maybe not bluerays), and writing papers and doing other school stuff. I have A LOT of pics i want stored on computer. My top concerns are screen size (15 or higher), speed, portability, graphics. My luxury would be a back lit key board but i dont need that one. Im thinking I5 or I7 (dual or quad doesnt matter), 4GB mem, 750 or more hard drive memory, and 2.4 ghz or higher. Im looking to spend around 850 after taxes no more than that.

Im thinking sony e, c, or s series. Or is samsung or dell better deal? Also, if i can buy an early 2011 macbook pro from my brother (he has barely used it!) for 1200 is that better to get a mac or pc laptop?

A MacBook Pro

They may be pricey but however, it's totally worth it. It would probably be the only $1,200 or more that you will ever spend on a laptop.

Here are reasons why:

Mac OSX does Not Get Viruses. It HAS in the passed, but very fast, reported and notified to Apple. They then patch it, and it has a clean slate as before :)

Firewall is very, very hard to bypass unlike Windows.

Mac is portable, 11-inch MacBook Air :). Unlike WIndows again...

Mac doesn't crash like Windows. Mac does its job, and finished it. Unlike Windows which unfortunately crashes or can't run a certain process.

Depending on what Manufacture you buy a Windows, Apple has a better Consumer Report, IMO. They respond with great authority, and know what they're doing. For like HP, You have to call India which you would have to spend to call another country :(( = More money!!!

I am not saying Windows is bad, but, Macs may be pricey, but it's totally worth it. Windows is okay, but it seems like to me that Windows is getting slow on marketing. Haven't you seen what Apple is coming out with? A new MBP may be coming out in 2012.

What's coming out for Windows? : Windows 8. But, it's a little more memory and you can "Switch from different UI's" but I don't care lol.

Windows is okay, but to me, Apple has more advantages.

Go with a Mac.

Just remember, this is only my opinion.

satisfied Birthday to You! a competent pc must have the mandatory stuff (liquid crystal reveal reveal, touchpad, etc.) a minimum of those in it. an finished length keyboard, 2GB of RAM (1GB's ok i wager in spite of the undeniable fact that it will slooww down after many years of use.), a hardpersistent of a minimum of 50GB and a opticalpersistent. i am going to leave the figuring out on to you (in basic terms be careful about the warranty, be particular that if there's a remember, turn YOUR pc IN even if there is not any concern so that you may want to be particular YOURS IS fastened). =D satisfied BIRTHDAY!!!
