Hey,

I need some help deciding which of these 2 laptops to buy. My friends have suggested one but i need more people to make sure i make the right decision. So here they are:

1.)http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/425443/ACER-ASPIRE-5720.137/summary/true

2.http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/435848/FUJITSU-SIEMENS-AMILO-PI-2515/summary/true

I am looking for a laptop with fast performance and with a long life expectancy. I will mostly be on the internet or chatting on MSN messenger and performing word processing tasks, and maybe the odd game or two. Thanks for your help,

Tom.

It depends on exactly what you're looking for.

The Fujitsu is more light weight and will last longer running on battery power.

The Acer has better graphics, more built in features, and can take more RAM/memory.

From the fast performance/long life expectancy POV, the Acer wins out. Better hardware to start out with and more upgradeable.

From the portability POV, the Fujitsu wins out.

Both seem to be pretty equal on the grounds of support, e.g. they both provide all the necessary drivers on their websites and don't use proprietary hardware, so once the warranty is out chances are if you tote it in your local repair shop they'll be able to fix it.

Ive owned my acer aspire 3200lci laptop for about 4 years now. Its been beaten to death in the back of a C-130 through "normal" use most of that time - a toughbook would have had a challenge. The screen is scratched and the case is cracked. You know what? Its still going strong. I am answering this question with it.

The one acer you are considering obviously has better graphics potential, that is exactly why I bought mine.

Compared to a Fujitsu? I have no experience in that - do some research.

Acer laptops are somewhat looked down upon in the U.S. I am always being asked by HP and DELL owners who (after researching) know they overpaid for their computer how I like my Acer. My answer? Just what I told you.

Personally speaking I prefer the Fujitsu.

I looked at both in detail when buying one recently and found quite a few negative reports on the ACER. I got the Fujitsu and am very happy with it.

You might want to check the clearance section on the PC World web site, I found one for quite a lot cheaper than list price and given what you want it for, a previous model would not be a issue for you.

fujitsu is a better laptop- a much more established name with more years of production behind the brand name - long life and fast proformance - however for what you will be using it for the acer will be fine for all your needs and probably cheaper so id go with the acer- hope this helps

Acers are really good. I have the extensa 4620 and no problems yet!
