?

I'm interested in buying a notebook laptop, but I don't know which one is the best. I'm trying to spend 350 at the most so that makes it a little difficult. Anyway which do you prefer Acer or Hp?? Or any other suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Abby

Both brands make pretty good laptops, but first I'd suggest opening your budget to at least $500. At $350, you're really limiting your options to either: 1 - laptops that stores are clearancing out, or 2 - netbooks (which for me are WAY underpowered).

What are you trying to do with the laptop? If you're only trying to surf the internet, and maybe type a paper or two, then a netbook might be all you need. They don't come with CD/DVD drives though. If you want to watch videos on Youtube, stream movies, play CDs/DVDs, or use programs like Photoshop, you might want to get a full sized laptop (13" or more). You'll be able to easily find a netbook for $350 and under.

If you really can't get outside of your $350 budget, then I'd suggest checking your local sales papers around holidays (like President's Day sales that are coming up) to see what you can fine. It likely won't be either HP or Acer, but something else like eMachines.

Most brands offer certain notebooks that are especially durable. Try comparing durable notebooks for different brands, based on the other factors that you might want to consider, such as price and functionality.(Some notebooks are best for media, some are best for mobile use, etc.)

Yikes. $350 doesn't give you many options. At that price range you're basically looking at the cheapest of the cheap. You're going to have to just take what you can get.
