hi,
My T60 has thinkvantage technology and when i select the files to be rescued and restored (including all applications as i need them), the size comes to approx 21 GB.
If i take this backup on a harddisk, can i use that harddisk to restore my computer later.
Is it possible to somehow restore computer with all program files / installed and working.
My compu has some essential daily use software which i had purchased/downloaded earlier. I do not have most of the cds with me now. How can i ensure my software remains intact after rescue process.

If you use acronis disk manager you can creat live backup images of your computer. So when you restore from the image everything is already working and Thinkvantage, the backup files must be installed and configured in order during a restore process and it gets time consuming. But to answer your first question, if you back it up to the external hard drive, then yes, of course you can restore it at a later time, just not the way you want to.

When you do a system recovery from the recovery CD.'s you will write over all files and programs. You will need to copy any thing you want to keep (files, data, photo's,etc.) to CD.'s or an external hard drive for later use and installing to the new HD. The added programs will also have to be installed after doing the recovery from the CD.'s.

Hope this helps
