I spilled a little water in my laptop, and panicked because the keys weren't working right(I'm on my dad's right now).I heard rice would get the water out so I just took some dry rice, and put it on the keys, and kinda pushed them in so the water would get absorbed. Then I managed to get all the rice out of the keyboard, and the keys were still funny. Also when I turned it on,it would make a really loud beep beep beep sound , and then it would stop when it got to the help screen.I can't press the enter button because it doesn't work .I did try it just now,and by holding it down forever,I think it worked.Man,I'm in a fix!PLEASE HELP!This laptop isn't even a year old yet. It's an HP.I think the rice got stuck in the actual system because when the system was loading,or whatever I heard something moving inside, like hitting the inside so now I'm sure there's rice in it.I want to take it apart, and try to get it out,but I have to wait for my dad!He works night shift, and I have no idea where the screw drivers or anything are.And I know it's late, but if you're up,please help!P.S.-I got the blue screen!I heard my brother talk about this "blue screen of death" once so that doesn't help my nerves...but is it that really bad?like never work again bad?

When did you spill the water?

The reason you hear the beeping sound is because the keyboard is shorting out. Allow it to dry some more and it should work just fine. The rice won't hurt anything on the computer, unless it fell underneath the keys in which case you would not be able to fully press down the buttons. If rice is in there, and it is still moist, then that could be the cause of the short.

I seriously hope you have accidental damage protection but, even that may not cover it. You need to take it in and have it serviced. For future reference (hopefully you won't need to use it as you will be more careful) you are not supposed to stuff the rice in the places the laptop got wet, you are supposed to put the whole laptop in a container of rice and let the rice absorb the water.

i'd not disassemble the computer, or you may have a frustrating time reassembling it. in case you do not choose the computer urgently, go away it in a dry position for about a week. in case you position it in rice, the rice may get stuck contained in the computer. Take out the battery and do a similar.
