I will be attending college in a month or so and need a good laptop. I want something that can play HD videos and most of today's demanding games. I'm not look for a giant, fully game oriented laptop like a Asus
G70 or Alienware M17x just something decent. Also I want something that looks nice and doesn't look like a Toshiba.

Here's My System Requirements:

* Under $1,400 USD
* Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz or faster (No AMD)
* 1366x768 HD Screen (1600x900,1600x1050, or 1080p resolution preferred)
* 2GB or more Ram
* Nvidia 9300M/ATi Mobility 4330 or higher
* 250GB HDD or Bigger
* B/G/N Wifi, (Bluetooth is Optional)
* (Optional) Blu-Ray
* (Optional) HDMI, DVI, VGA, ESATA Ports

My Preferred Picks:

Sony Vaio FW (Comes with Blu-Ray, 1080p, up to 3.06Ghz cpu)

HP Pavilion dv6t (Up To 3.06Ghz CPU)

If you can't recommend any other laptops, which one should I pick?

While normally I recommend the Macbook Pro, in your case since you are looking for a gaming laptop that's really out of the picture. Definitely the XPS notebooks by dell are worthy contenders. If not, I'd go with the Vaio FW series since they can be configured to include all of the specs you require (although you might be slightly over budget).

their all good besides dell cause they suck major... yeah so dont get any of those, why because u can choose what u want at www.alienware.com

choose a laptop, the faster cpu the better it will run, the more memory the better it will perform the better graphics the better your games will run.

i suggest this laptop. if u can get the 8 gb of memory or just the 4. get windows 7 x64 bit that way u can use full memory from graphics and memory. choose any hard drive and as for cpu i would get the 2.8 ghz. or if u want awsome super speed get the 3.0 quad

I would go with the HP or Vaio, Acer and Dell aren't such good brands.

you could also consider a Mac Book, or Mac book Pro, which probably meets your requirements.

On the dell site you can enter your desired specs and budget and they show you the laptops they have

Desktop- netbook combo. Should be able to get pretty good specs on dt for the money, and netb surely very handy. Plus $300 cheaper. Don't know about the other stuff.
