I am trying to listen to music through my headphones on my laptop?

So im trying to listen to music through my head phones on my laptop, but the sound is coming through the speakers and head phones. Someone help, please. like asap. I dont know why its doing this, and would love to know how to fix it.

Your laptop contains software that is bundled to it. Be sure to check the control panel for the Audio settings specially made for you laptop's hardware. There could be settings there that you need to toggle to turn-off speaker when earphone is connected (similar to touchpad when a USB mouse is connected).

Windows XP: Right click on volume then on mixer: Speakers muted, headphones not muted.



Windows Vista/7: Control panel, Hardware and sound, Adjust system volume. You probally know it works.

the hek? that's not supposed to happen. make sire the headphones are pressed VERY firmly into the headphone slot, if it is even somewhat loose, this may happen.
