Well it appears like your in really a predicament, however there would simply be a approach to repair it. Okay in an effort to begin off the Dell Inspiron desktops are very convenient to get virus's and what different matters like that. Unfortunately the N4010 used to be honestly the worst mannequin that they've. But this nonetheless would paintings so do not begin freaking out simply but. So first flip in your pc and take a look at to log in, after which pass onto the web. If you cant pass that some distance then then it's ordinarily some thing do to with the hardware. So now take out your keyboard, you would ought to rip threw a few plastic and stuff to get to in insides of the pc. Now as soon as you'll be able to see some of the matters within the pc, begin through watching for those little stick watching matters. Those are your ram sticks. If any are damaged then holiday them compleatly since the approach is making an attempt to aid now not brake it, nevertheless it works simply as first-class damaged (do not inquire from me why, it simply works). Then after that is performed appear for a few plastic strips that resemble tape. Cut those approximately a million/two" on each and every one you'll be able to uncover. After that is all performed positioned your keys again on and switch in your pc! Should paintings at this factor. If now not then you definately would ought to take it to a shop to get checked out. Hope it really works!

Hi Angi,

Based on your post, it appears to be a hard drive failure. Try running the hardware diagnostics and see if it shows any errors. You can follow the instructions from http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?docid=514508

If the tests come out clean and if your restore partition is intact, you should be able to restore your computer's software back to factory settings without using any disks. You can follow the instructions from http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&docid=DSN_347576&isLegacy=true

Please Note: This erases ALL the existing data. This includes files, folders, programs, drivers, E-mails, photos.

Also, If you want to email me your service tag and current shipping address, I will have a look at your warranty to see what options we have.

Dell XPS 17 Will not load beyond first screen, 2nd screen in black with blinking cursor?

Here you can find a lot of links to go for. I will put you ad my profile in the watchlist for answering it ad a later time.

The best thing might be a new installation, if you can backup all the files you want.

When I'm not misstaken, Windows has an option to do so or it will ask you to give it a name.

Windows will name it old(?).

Windows will backup all the files ad documents and more.

And you could rollback to it, not that you are going to.

When it doesn't help at all, your computer needs a hardware check.

Is the battery fully charged? (put in the wall power supply all the time when possible, that's a standard)

Or, is it plugged in to a wall power supply? (then it wouldn't be a problem)

Do you still have a warranty? (bring it back for a check)

It could be a lot of things that can create this error, like power shifts (causes hardware damage, writing damage too) and so on.

Or a virus or a troyan.

It's not helpful, but you can give it a try without any risk of your own.

When done so and it all works again, try to create a Windows 7 x64 live cd/dvd. When something happens to Windows, you can get to your files for copying and maby repair.

Before connecting to the internet, install the anti-virus software you have.

You use a demo, next time back the installation files up.

You could install twice the version and when one doesn't startup, you can choos the second for a try.

Keep the second one clean from a lot of software, only install what you really need.

You might have to create another partition for the second one, lets say 15GB.

I had this situation once and reinstalled, less time taking and more surten of what could be the trouble.

Nothing worked, so I had to.

Do you have a rescue cd/dvd?

When not, get an OpenSource Live cd/dvd. You can always try that for use and you can backup your files too.

You could get Acronis True Image Backup for free with an bootCD creator for that program. It will install the necessary drivers for you computer. Do try the created Acronis CD/DVD.

I had once that it wasn't done well and you will not be able to use it ad another computer, unless it has the same hardware/drivers.

You could go for Paragon free edition for creating a partition. However, I don't know if comes with a live CD/DVD creator of the program.

There will be a lot of free software for doing this, try some phrases with 'Bootable CD/DVD'.

Hopefully I let you know enough and that you will find the answers you seek!

Good luck and have fun doing it!

Try entering setup BIOS at the splash screen and resetting to original settings?
