What's wrong with my laptop?

Uh I forgot the brand but I got it at Walmart over a year ago for $300-$500.
It's had issues before but I don't think it ever did anything like this before.
I was listening to music loading the PC version of Halo and the screen was on the brightest setting then it flashed white, shut off, and wouldn't turn back on. The only way I got it to turn back on was by taking the battery out and putting it back.
I just want to know if I should be worried about a virus or something on it, because it's also been running kind of slow. So any opinions on what might be wrong with my laptop and advice on what to do?

It sound like a virus, possibly a Trojan. If download lots of thing from the internet then it is probably a virus.

I would say most likely if you look at it it is a problem with your battery connection. What probably is happening is that the wire or w/e that connects the battery to the rest of the hardware to power it is probably faulty. Seems in the early stages so id see if you cant get them to fix it. If you have a warranty better.

Id look up your make and model and see if other people have the same issue.

Then go on a site and find the part that would need to be replaced.

Order it and go to like a pc world or a local pc repair place they would most likely fix it for under a hundred bucks because you ordered the part yourself. Plus theyll think your smart.

The part probably would run you under 50 bucks.

Make sure you know the make model ad date it was made and the default specs because even though you may have the same laptop as your friend the parts are all outsourced and c come from a billion places.

It could be malware, run this AV software if you haven't already just to make sure: http://www.malwarebytes.org/

That has a good chance of finding malware on the machine, though it may take awhile to scan it.

As Jacob said, this sounds like overheating. Getting someone to clean the inside will help solve this problem. (or you could do it yourself if you know what you're doing)

The machine is probably running slow due to the hardware not being that good, and Windows in general, as it's bloated and does things inefficiently.

If your laptop shut down with no reasons thats means that one of your components is overheating i would say your graphic chip or processor best way to find out is by unscrewing laptop and see how much dust you have got in a grill another think that convince me to overheating is that would only switch on after removing battery hope that helps get your self free app on laptop and see your gpu and cpu tempter regards jacob
