If you have the money then buy a MacBook Pro. I made the switch to Mac about 8 months ago and will never go back to a PC. So much easier to use and manage and it doesn't come with all those advertisements for ebay. It actually comes with a bunch of programs you will like and not ones that you will uninstall right away.

No. It doesn't depend on this or that or the other thing. Unless you want to compare ease of use, reliability, stability, and cost.

Mac wins on all counts. Whoa Nelly!!!

Did I just say Macs cost less‽ Why yes, I did! Now, some will not read any farther than this. Some will give an instant thumbs down to this answer. The smart reader will continue and then check whether I am right or not. Are you the smart reader who will check?

1) Macs are cheaper than PCs. You have to look at total cost of ownership, not just the price tag on the computer. Macs are cheaper because they have a longer USEFUL life than do PCs. You replace a Mac half as often as a PC. Want proof? Easy. Look at how many people are paying for 6 year old Macs on eBay versus people paying for 6 year old PCs. A computer that has 10% of the market new has over 75% of the market when 6 six years old. This also means that Macs hold their value longer than PCs.

2) Macs are more reliable. Again, you don't have to take my word for it. Just read through 20 pages of Questions right here in the Hardware section and count how many people need help fixing their Macs and how many people need help fixing their PCs. A computer that has 10% of the market accounts for less than 10% of the problems right here.

3) Macs are easier to fix. Can you type one page of instructions that will fix over 99% of what will go wrong with a PC? No? I can do that for a Mac. See the link below.

depends on your major

I am a mechanical engineering major and i bought a mac. I hate it to death. its just boring and my dog can use my computer but i dont let her because i don't want it to get burned or scratch the case.

they are not durable dropped TWICE and have a scratch that kills it and cost $900 to replace because i need a whole new screen.

Cannot upgrade hard drive and a ram upgrade cost $200 or i get a VOID WARRANTY.

the only software you can get is what they sell in the store. everything else online is well junk.

Apple is a fad and hopefully more people will wake up and see that. if not more viruses will come (NEVER had ONE with my PC, got a mac and caught one in LESS THAN A YEAR)

Dell is nice (i guess, rather go Alienware (http://alienware.com/) which is owned by dell) but isnt the best for games

Asus is very nice and inexpensive so you can buy more for it. I hear its one of the better and well priced gaming computers

if your a simple minded, technophobe then Apple is for you.

but if you grew up with Windows get it and get the upgrade on October 22, 2009: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/home?os=nonwin7

Mac does not come with a word processor and pages is ok but office is what you need for college because of essays and presentations

oh and just because mac has MS Office doesnt mean its good, read the reviews on apples page: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TQ744LL/A?fnode=MTY1NDA0OA&mco=MjE1MjQxOA

You can't really go wrong with any of those. They will all serve you well through college, and that all have about the same price range. If you're going to want to play a lot of different games, I'd rule out Apple. The majority of PC games don't work on a Mac.

If a narrow selection of games isn't an issue for you, then it's really about preference. Good luck!

pc pc, smaller length would be greater effective for portability. the reason i say pc is considering which you will get a working laptop or pc that's approximately 50% greater efficient for an identical fee or decrease. Mac is a lot overpriced and compatable with now not something. pc can do each little thing that a Mac can with a greater efficient equipment at the back of it. everybody who is going to sit down down right here and communicate approximately how mac is greater powerful and has no viruses is lifeless incorrect. definite mac is greater powerful however the greater efficient equipment greater advantageous than makes up for that certainty, and mac does have viruses, the reason they didnt beforehand is simply by fact it wasnt incredibly actually worth the hackers time, yet now that they've grown and began merchandising the shortcoming of viruses, they see a bigger objective and a undertaking, in case you bypass on your community pc shop you will now see antivirus for mac. And macs actually suck for gaming, in all aspects, they have susceptible snap shots enjoying cards and maximum video games at the instant are not even made for macs.

Looks like you’ve got a really specific idea of what you’re looking for in a laptop, which is a good thing! Don't forget that a big factor in a new computer purchase is also your available budget, though. You definitely want to make sure that you are getting the most value for your money.

Something that might be really helpful for you is this new site called Laptop Scout http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-laptop-scout/default.aspx. It’ll let you add in the things you want in a laptop (size, speed, price, etc.) then provide you with a list of systems that match your requests.

It might be something that’ll help you find the exact laptop that matches up with what you want, or at least find a few that comes close.

I hope this is helpful!

Thanks,

Depends on a few things. If you happen to be any kind of art or graphic design student, they usually require you to have a Mac. Macs are probably the best laptops out there, but they are kind of expensive. You can play games on it (it's powerful enough), but the selection of games isn't as big as for a PC. That can be solved easily though. All you have to do is buy a copy of Windows and you can run it side-by-side on your Mac, either through a dual boot or in a virtual machine. But if you're looking to save some cash, the Asus is probably the cheapest of the three. It's good, but most of the people I know who've had one say that they don't last very long.

Overall, apple. I mean, what kind of games are you thinking of? There are games that will work on a mac and if you'd want to use os x as your primary operating system then by all means, get one. I find they are much more reliable. However, if you play lots of games that are compatible only with windows then you'd be better suited to go with the dell or ausis. You can install windows on a mac, but not sense in wasting extra cash on the mac plus windows os if your main usage will be only with windows. If your gaming needs could mostly be satiated by games that are available for os x then get the mac.

well asus laptops are great for gaming. if you want to be able to do allot i recommend a pc. macs have customisible looks and stuff, but ultimately windows can do allot more. in my experience dell laptops are low quality laptops. macs are good quality but a really bad price for the specs. i love my asus laptops though. i have never had a problem with an asus laptop, no crapware or anything. luckily ive never had to call, but i hear that asus customer support is some of the best out there from allot of people. many people mix up asus and acer. acer is the lowest quality brand in my opinion. my acer laptop broke after a month and customer support refused to do anything.
