So I need to get a new laptop, because my old laptop is dying. I am a junior after summer, so I want to buy a laptop that will last me through all of high school and college. Can anyone give me any recommendations of a good and durable laptop. My last laptop was a HP, and it is probably one of the worst laptops I have ever used. So I will definitely not go back to it again. My budget is between 1000-2000 dollars, because I want a longlasting solid laptop. I will use it mainly for education purposes, but I also would use it for gaming. I would want a laptop that is portable; so its easy to carry around. Sorry for so much detail, but I really want to find a good laptop. Thank you very much.

Dell's are not durable or long lasting. They are on par with HP in this category.

If you want long lasting, Asus has the highest reliability of any brand and has been this way for a few years.

With that budget, I would look into the best gaming laptop for that price. Gaming laptops are built with better and longer lasting components because manufacturers build them with a higher priority.

The Asus G73JH-A1 is one of the best non-SLI notebooks you'll find right now. Go to xoticpc.com and through there you'll find all of the best laptops in your price range. The top 3 are Asus, Sager (built on Clevo architecture), and MSI, though Force is good as well.

Good luck.

Edit: Noticed the post above mine. DO NOT get an Acer. Acer is the lowest of all manufacturers and are even worse than Compaq.

Also, gaming laptops run hot when you game because it takes a lot of energy to render 3D objects, and multitask. Obviously manufacturers know this so they apply the best thermal compounds and nominal heatsinks so even when they reach temperatures that high, they still have a longer life than standard laptops. Normally, without gaming, they run cool.

well in that price range your talking about a mac, i dont like the apple operating system, but their hardware is generally the best built, however if you want the same quality at half the price, go with an acer laptop, im using a 2007 model right now, its the aspire 4720z and it runs like a champ, no gaming on it though, it uses an integrated chipset for graphics, so its pretty slow for 3d graphics, however if you get a gaming chipset such as nvidia 9400m its gonna use more battery, and its gonna get very very hot, i dont suggest laptops for gaming, at all really, my buddy has a laptop with a separate video chipset and his runs at aroun160-180 degrees Fahrenheit, which im surprised his laptop hasnt died on yet

except you will improve to a extra physically powerful motherboard and CPU, then i could in basic terms bypass with the hot one. the clarification for this could be that there ought to very properly be different themes that should value extra funds to repair, or there must be different themes arise quickly after the restore. extra beneficial to purchase the hot one and have the guaranty. besides the fact that in case you're able to make this an danger to enhance your computer to a plenty extra beneficial and swifter device. you're able to make it precisely the form you're able to like it. yet the two way, you will could spend some earnings this situation you have. good success to you.
