I just purchased a new ACER laptop and it did not come with a Windows 7 recovery CD?
Is that normal?
and if not, what shall I do if for some reason I need to restore my Windows 7?

I dont think there are any computers/laptops that come with recovery discs anymore.
they are usually located on the computer it's self, and it's up to you to burn them onto a disc.
you should find the program to create them in the start menu under support/acer/tools or something simular to that.

A lot of laptops no longer include recovery cds - they either have a recovery partition or offer to create a recovery cd - search your start menu for this option - as I don't know the set up on your laptop, I suggest you use free software to create a full mirror image backup of your hard drive - think of it as a snapshot of your drive as it is now - you can use
Easeus Todo Backup

backup to dvd or an external usb hard drive; here's a how to explaining its use
the software also lets you create a recovery cd - you boot from this cd in order to restore a previously created backup.

You can create your own recovery back up cd and the laptop should have already advised you to do this. Search on google how to do it, it's easy.

I don't think they come with a laptop anymore. If they did little help they would be for the laptops that don't have a CD drive.

Not all manufacturers include setup CD's now. If you have one that does not, like Acer, go to their site and see if they allow you to download or request setup CD's.

Here in Australia the retailers seem to get away without having to supply a disc.
This way they can charge you (again) to reinstall what you have already paid for.
You could buy something like Norton (Symantec) Ghost and copy what you have on your hard drive.
Good luck
