Question:
Major Laptop Problems (Serious answers only)?
grrrrr

My laptop, a Toshiba that I purchased secondhand about a year ago has been having some serious issues, since yesterday. When I go online for more than a few minutes at a time, a blue screen appears saying something about RAM and my computer crashes. When I open a Microsoft Word document, the computer either freezes up, or goes through all these funky pattern screens and then crashes, and then I get a black error screen. These problems started yesterday afternoon and are getting progressively worse as time goes by. I already ran an AVG virus check, and it appears that a virus is not the cause, though this file came up under the ones it had checked that looked suspicious. I removed several hundred pictures and documents from my computer. Can someone please assist me in solving this problem?

NOTE: Do not answer this question unless you have serious computer knowledge . I do not want my time wasted. If you respond with a one-word answer, or something like that, I will delete your response.
Also, I really don't appreciate rude answers and things like that. I need SERIOUS help only.

Hello

One thing you can check is that the RAM modules are seated correctly as over time they can work themselves loose and cause this issue

Turn laptop off and remove AC adaptor, turn laptop over and locate RAM hatch, remove screws, RAM modules are held down with clips that slide away from the module the module should then tilt up allowing its removal, simply take RAM module out and then firmly put it back in... DONE

Make sure that you touch a radiator before opening computer as static can damaged the computer components

If this fails then you can try a RAM diagnostics utility to test the RAM to see if it is faulty (if it is then buy new RAM)

http://www.memtest.org/

mem test is a good test of RAM

if the memory test comes back negative then you may have an issue with a dodgy driver or BIOS in need of updating refer to toshiba's website for updating these

make sure that you select the right laptop

It the blue-screen is a complete screen that covers your monitor and has white text then you are getting what we call.... a Blue Screen (of Death; BSOD).

Take it in to get it fixed. You probably have a RAM issue and I'm guessing that you have an on-board video card because of the pattern corruption issues. This is because it goes through RAM to cache the video.
