I've had a slew of problem with my laptop since I got it. Keys broke, had to replace them [they were still broken and the new keys did not fit properly, but given I got them from an outside vendor that's my own fault]. I found a ghetto way to fix them by taking hinges and caps from keys I don't use and putting them on the keys I needed, and that worked fine. Upon fixing the last key, I then went to log in at the start up screen. The enter key would not work [I did not TOUCH this key out of the 2 I had to fix. The 2 I fixed were W, and E] so I thought, whatever and clicked the enter sign. My password was not recognized. I typed it in like eight times. Checked caps lock. Nothing. So I restarted. Enter key still didn't work. It got to the point I thought to try a system reboot, factory setting and all. You can't do that without an enter key. I didn't touch the key. I don't know if I can send it in under warranty since I have broken keys and I altered them [which gave me NO problems until now. Just switching keycaps shouldn't do this.] and I'm very upset as I've only had it since midnovember and it took me months to afford it. It's a toshiba l645d-s4056

what can I do? I'm very, very, frustrated.

It's a 15 minute job swapping them out, all of 5 screws. No one really troubleshoots keyboards since they are so cheap to replace.

As an aside, every warranty considers broken keys to be the result of end user abuse, and it won't be covered regardless.

I suggest either replacing the keyboard entirely, or using a separate USB keyboard.

It's very unlikely that your warranty will cover this. Not only did you alter the keyboard (they'll say it was something you did), but the keyboard in general is considered to be a prime location for wear and tear, so the warranty may not have covered it in the first place.
