So I was thinking of buying MacBook pro some time in the future.
Then my friend bought a Sony Vaio like last week. And the specs for the computer are much better compared to the Mac Book Pro.

For the last 15 years of my life, I've been a PC and I liked it. But my current Net Book depresses me. And now I was going to buy a Mac. Why are Macs still better then PC?

New computer equipment comes out all the time. The Macbook Pro is due for a hardware update soon. However before you even look at hardware your first question you need to be asking yourself is what kind of software are you planning to use on that spanking new computer? My best advice is to to look at the kinds of programs you want to run, then check out what hardware is required to run that sofware (mac or PC). That will then determine the minimim specs you need. You never know, if all you need is a more powerful netbook then perhaps you should be looking at a Macbook Air.

Aside from performance specs, here are some reasons for choosing mac over PC:

* slimmer, stronger more durable industrial design that will last you for many more years than anything else out there.

* Tightly integrated operating system and hardware.

* inherently more secure (most Mac users haven't needed antivirus in over a decade).

* extremely fine attention to detail in everything you do and use with their machines.

* applecare extended warranty gives world wide coverage with laptops.

* you can do windows too (PCs can't legally do OS X), as well as other operating systems.

* Students and Educators can get a discount (and sometimes a free iPod touch).

* Apple isn't going out of business anytime soon (unlike the competition), so they will be there when you need them.

* magsafe power cord means if you kick the power cable you wont take your laptop down with it.

* ipods, iphones, ipads, itunes, safari and everything else Apple has a hand in works better and faster with a Mac than PC (but you know that already right?)

* all mac laptop screens are HD and higher.

* no spamware, adware, spyware or vapourware on a mac. The bundled apps are best of class and in some cases (garageband) have no equivalent on a PC.

* you can do a lot more with a mac straight out of the box before buying/adding any other software.

* the new Mac App store means that just about everything made for the Mac is one click away.

* if its USB based often the mac can use it, even if it doesn't explicitly say so on the packaging.

macs are not better than PC, they are different.

For $600, I bought an HP notebook that has equal specs to a macbook pro. It is durable and reliable. There is some truth to PCs crashing and breaking more often, but that is starting to become a thing of the past. The new windows operating systems (7 and even vista on computers that have the RAM requirements for it) are very stable.

I am acqauinted with both mac and PC but have always had a much more user friendly experience using pc. Multi-tasking in particular is something I have to do as being a very busy college student and I get work done much faster when I am using a PC. Mac is more about image, sleek designs, razor thin notebooks, etc. Take a look at the ipad, a very interesting and advanced device that certainly has some "cool" features, but it doesnt have any real functional purpose. My PC notebook can stand up right on its own, has a functional keyboard (awkward trying to use the virtual one on the ipad) and has tons of connections and ports for hooking up tools that I need. The ipad cant do any of that so guess which one is more useful for writing essays or even just browsing the internet? To me, mac is most successful because of their marketing strategies (ie. convincing millions to buy products that look cool or sexy or sleek).

all in all, you need to buy a system based on what your needs are. I cannot say why your current netbook depresses you, but if you need something wiht more features then go for it.

Any netbook would depress me as well. Windows is designed to run on a variety of hardware configurations. Mac OS X is designed on only a few configurations. This is part of a giant fragmented vs. integrated war between Microsoft and Apple (a war that Apple will eventually lose given the current direction of the company's business policies). It really depends on what you want to do with your laptop. If you play tons of games, stay with Windows since the Mac hardware doesn't support gaming very well. If you just need productivity applications (word processor, spreadsheet, etc.) and want to do some design stuff (like photo albums, home videos, basic photo editing, etc.) and want a very responsive and stable environment to all that in, the go Mac. Mac kills Windows as far as ease of use is concerned, although there is a bit of a learning curve with all the commands and getting used to the UNIX-based keyboard. Mac does have some really cool and very useful system features that make it a huge competitor to Windows, but the price is what still deters people (although people are buying Macs more than ever before for one reason or another).

I would definitely prefer Macbook Pro to you instead of any other laptop because once you have it you would have an absolutely unique and excellent experience for which Apple is known. Also it provides many of the features which other laptops do not have so on the whole Macbook Pro is the complete package to have. I would highly recommend Macbook Pro to you.

I recommend this article written by an actual user, it should help you decide whether to get it
