I need a laptop by the 7th of Jan. by the latest for school. It has to meet certain specifications for my online classes in Web Development. The specifications are:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz or equivalent
15.4 Widescreen Display
120 GB HD (250 GB or higher recommended)
3 GB (3072 MB) RAM
Wireless Adapter
CD/DVD burner
256 MB Video (NVidia preferred)
3 year manufacturer warranty

I am going with a Windows 7, an processor of 2.2 Ghz (I would prefer to get Intel Core 2 Duo just to be on the safe side of specifications needed), 15'' to 16'' display, at least 120 GB, at least 3 GB Ram, wireless adapter, cd/dvd burner, at least 256 gb, the price range being no higher than $800, and at least a 1 year warranty and upgrading the warranty later. Would you think AMD processor brand would be good to go with? What about the HP or Toshiba brand? The toshiba brand I was looking at has over 7 hours of battery life, 12 cell battery lithium, alot of optical drive speeds, but the laptop is a bit heavy weighing 7.2 lbs and glossy, versus the HP brand which has 4 hours of battery life, 8x optical drive speed, 6 cell battery lithium and weighing 6.3 lbs, so a little bit lighter. Both laptops are the same price, $649.99 from best buy. The other HP that has an AMD processor brand is from best buy too but is $599.99. The $649.99 HP laptop is available at my nearest best buy store to pick up. The other two are not. The other HP that is $599.99, shipping is not available and is not available at the best buy store that is nearest to me. The Toshiba is not available at my nearest best buy store but shipping is still available. Has anyone had any problems with HP or Toshiba, or do you know someone that has? If so, what were the problems? These two brands are the brands that I would like to go with? Which laptop or which brand should I go with? Please help!!! Need input and advice!! I'm spending so much money here and I need it for school.

HP and Toshiba are the two properly universal manufacturers. Toshiba is quite often recognized as producing the terrific high quality laptops yet you apart from mght pay a top classification value for this. you could discover that there is a HP device that does each thing you opt for and is greater advantageous fee for money. From a servicing standpoint, I actual have stumbled on it puzzling to get aspects for Toshiba laptops the place HP aspects look greater obtainable. while HP and Compaq merged, the HP laptops ("Omnibooks") have been quietly phased out and HP observed the greater advantageous Compaq workstation technologies. those have been good high quality machines and in all hazard nevertheless are.

I would go with the Toshiba. I work at Best Buy and we got an article for the result of a 3 year test on which laptops will fail. HP came in dead least with over 25% of them failing within 3 years and Toshiba came in at 15.6% good for second place (just barely after Asus who had 15.5% fail rate). Also Toshiba won't come with nearly as much trial software crap.

If you could go to a store where they have those laptops, I would suggest personally checking them out for yourself. All computers have problems of one kind or another at some time. I use Dells, Acers, HPs and Emachines and personally can not say which one is better. They get the same kind of use and get tortured the same way. Go for the Toshiba, simply for the specifications you have listed, especially if using it for school. Wish you the best in your decision.
