I can't find what I'm looking for with search. I really hope someone can help. I have a laptop less than two years old. I started noticing more recently that my speakers would crackle. Not often, but once they start they won't stop. I have to shut down my computer for a long while before I can turn it back on and everything be fine. I was playing movies and stuff on it quite a bit and I'd turn the volume all the way up, but If I had blown them, wouldn't they not work all the time? It's only occasionally that they do this. (At least once a day now) I have played with the sound settings, and it doesn't help. It does it whether the sound is loud or soft. It even travels through external speakers and headphones if I use them. Can anyone help?

I was watching a video on You tube just a few minutes ago and my Face book was in another tab... A friend IMed me on facebook and the video started to crackle. I think there may be a connection, but what?

How do I fix this? Please help. I don't think it's the sound card and I don't think the speakers are blown.

I don't think they are blown but they might be worn. It could be that the speaker wire is deteriorating or a wire is loose.

Since you don't hear the crackle in the phones, it's probably the speakers themselves. Have you played your MP3s at max volume for extended periods? You may have blown your speakers, and you may have to get them replaced. Plug some speakers that have their own power supply into the headphone jack. If you don't hear a cracke, a trip to the computer repair place is in your future.

If you are hearing your speakers crackle, then it means that a wire for the speakers is shorting.

that happens to my headphones sometime it's because they are worn.
