How do I use my laptop as a router?

Basically I want to use my laptop as a router. Without going into too much detail the wireless router is in the main house, the laptop will be at a mid point in an outdoor shed - and then i wish to run a cable from that outdoor house to a granny flat. I have used an access point before and do not wish to use another - and it is impossible to run a cable from the main house straight through to the granny flat.

I wish to use the laptop to recieve the internet from the main house router via wireless (which it does quite well), then share the internet with a computer in the granny flat via cable from the laptop. Is this possible? The computer inside the granny flat and laptop are running Windows 7. I have a wireless hub if that is necessary and cat5 crossover cables if needed. If anyone could assist me with this issue (although its a tricky one) I would GREATLY appreciate it!

If the router does not provide you a solid sign, the subject starts off there. yet one extra reason must be that your pc is merely too some distance far off from the router (my router is upstairs into the lounge, i i bypass to the kitchen - close to to the exterior - the pc won't be able to "discover" the router). possibly changing the server...?

possible but conplicated and sometimes expensive, you need the right network cards..ect

go to a local mac, radio shack..ect place and just ask them bacause most ppl here wouldnt know and they would be just guessing, but not always

You'll need to set up a network bridge.
