I currently have an HP Pavilion a6000n computer, it's decently old now, about 5-6 years I think. It's not good enough for what I want out of a computer. And I'm thinking whether I should upgrade it, or just get a new laptop. A laptop would be pretty good for me, since I am going to be taking college classes later, and the portability is another plus. The laptop I want is either a MacBook Air or Pro. Are there cheaper ways (than buying a new device) that I could make my computer better? Maybe even better than a MacBook Pro?

It all depends on what you want out of it. If you just use facebook, email, watch youtube videos, any new laptop will fulfill that need. Being that your current computer is 5-6 years old, you may want to upgrade. to a whole new system, whether it be a desktop or laptop. At this point, it isnt worth upgrading your current pc, that is if you have certain needs.

As for macbook to windows comparison. A $700 Windows laptop will be about as good as a macbook pro. So yes, there are cheaper and better alternatives. It just comes down to if you want to pay for the apple name, or not. There is a decent selection of lightweight and portable windows laptops. I would recommend checking out a local best buy or going to websites such as newegg.com

Hope this helps!!!

you said the comp u have is about 5-6 years old. thats means probably still running XP and has low RAM and cpu specs. you also mentioned college and portability. I would definitely recommend a laptop for any sort of school/work stuff cause its portable.

And in my experience macbooks are great but in the end you really are paying for the build of the laptop and not its specs. specs are everything in a computer.

I would recommend Dell if you do decide getting a laptop. they do have basic but recent models (core i3 i think) for under $600. Hope this helps!

must be you're blocking off the air flow with outfits or worse nonetheless utilising the laptop sat on the mattress. Get a sort of trays (around £6 from Wilkos) the place it has a no longer uncomplicated good and a scrunchy bean bag style backside. Use that to place your laptop on. only incorrect thank you to sit down back issues down is to initiate turning issues off in BIOS and slowing the processor down by using utilising SpeedStep (if it is an Intel, even whether it relatively is an Intel you may no longer use SpeedStep if it relatively is a computer style processor). while the unit gets heat verify that the fan is kicking in suited.
