well, the inventor of the numeric keypad found it a little easier to enter numbers from a numeric keypad, can't think of any other advantage :-)

in case you crunch #'s a lot that's super to have which I do working from homestead. i could not stay without mine off to the section. The inventor of the numeric keypad discovered it a splash less difficult to pass into numbers from a numeric keypad, won't be able to think of of the different earnings :-)

A numeric keyboard makes entering purely number-based information easier and usually means less input errors (eg. missing the number and hitting a letter). On the down side, they will usually be larger (or on a laptop, more cluttered) than their non-numeric counterparts.

If you have to enter a bunch of numbers, a numeric pad is a lot quicker.
It frees up the letter keys for text.
I use mine to navigate through documents, in cursor mode.
It is just something else to carry around with you.

If you are working with numbers a whole time then it's for sure easier, rather then moving your hand so so much.
